A lovely tart

Custard tarts are probably my favourite types of cake (pudding?) ever and this little sweetie from Rosie's Deli Cafe in Brixton was one of the best I've ever had. A properly delicious, gloopy treat in the perfect 1970s tones to complement the plate. Plus, with a bucket-sized mug of tea, it all came to £1.50 - bargain!

More treats this evening in the form of a visit from one of my best pals who came wielding a copy of this:

I can't wait to have a delve. Bust is my absolute bible. I was lucky enough to interview editor and Stitch n Bitch founder Debbie Stoller when I worked on Knitting magazine... and to gush like a complete fool and tell her how great she was. Never mind.

  1. That custard tart looks exactly like a Macau style custard tart. I think you would also like the HK-style ones - some HK cafes have amazing 70s decor too - not deliberately, they just haven't changed. Here's a HK-style custard tart (second pic)... a colonial legacy.
